Interflex
Interflex - an Anderson Courts design - manufactured by Action Floors offers a specialty cushioned maple floor system allowing for consistent ball rebound. Interflex provides the right amount of flexibility for the demands of squash and racquetball and the nature of a start and stop game.
The field tested, high performance system effectively absorbs shock and minimizes sound transmission and vibration.
Anderson Courts is an Associate member of the Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association providing assurance that the right floor products and tolerances are met.
Ventilating Cushioned System
This high quality floating floor system features an interlock subfloor. The Interflex floor system encourages shrinkage and expansion of the floor to occur around the perimeter of the system and allows airflow below the floor.
Expanding and contracting as a unit, the Interflex floor system reduces the susceptibility to cupping and permanent damage caused by excessive changes in humidity.
The Interflex floor is designed specifically for Squash and Racquetball.
Level Floor Always
Anticipating variances in the slab, Anderson Courts uses a laser to mark concrete and set a shimming pattern to assure a level floor.

Quality Assurance
- The floor is fabricated by Action Floors (manufacturer) and installed by Anderson Courts (supplier/installer) in conformity with approved shop drawings prepared by Anderson Courts and Sports Surfaces, Inc.
- Floor system to conform to requirements of World Squash Federation (WSF). Any system not conforming to WSF specifications is not acceptable.
Materials
- Flooring
- Flooring to be northern hard maple standard strip MFMA stamped and graded flooring 25/32" x 2- 11/4" (1- 1/2") or 33/32" x 2- 1/4" (1- 1/2").
- Anderson Courts specifies 1st Grade MFMA maple.
- Subfloor
- Vapor barrier to be 6-mil polyethylene.
- The pads to be 1/4" AirTech IV (WSF accredited)
- Subfloor lumber to be 1" x 6" 2nd and better gym grade spruce, fir or pine S2S to 3/4" x 6" x random length. Option: Subfloor may be treated with Woodlife F preservative when specified. Two layers in a grid formation
- Subfloor fasteners to be 1 1/2" nails or staples.
- Flooring fasteners to be 1 1/2" barbed cleats or 15 ga. coated stapled.
- Wall nick to be 3/8" unfilled.
Installation
- Cover concrete slab with poly lapping edges 6".
- Place the first layer of subfloor lumber perpendicular to the headwall, starting from center line and laying at 16" o.c., with pads attached forming a diamond pattern within the court. Extend to perimeter stiffeners and attach, continuing 1/2" space to nearest obstruction.
- Place the second layer of subfloor lumber 90 degrees to the first starting at the head wall with 2" spacing between each row of boards, breaking ends of second layer on bottom layer. Nail or staple with 1- 1/2" subfloor fasteners at each intersection. Leave 1/2" space to nearest obstruction.
- Machine nail strip flooring into top layer of subfloor lumber. End joints must be properly driven up and proper spacing provided for the humidity conditions of the area as recommended by Anderson Courts installation crew. Allow 3/8" nick at perimeter to floor junction.
- Flooring must be butted to walls and not run under walls to maintain proper expansion nick.
Floor Sanding / Finishes
- Squash courts are sanded only
- Drum sand to a 40-grit finish leaving a nap finish.
- Sweep or vacuum floors clean.
- Floor to present a smooth surface without drum stop marks, gouges, streaks or shiners.
- Apply game lines accurately. Lay out in accordance to drawings. For game lines, use current rules of association having jurisdiction. Lines to be straight with sharp edges to minimize lateral bleeding. Color to be red.
